Concept

Reflection 50 is a new American restaurant opening in Bucharest, Romania. The inspiration for the restaurant design comes from the clam shell, a symbol of rebirth. Rebirth represents the rebirth of America as a mix of cultures, including Romanian culture. Bucharest is also well known for the Shell Beach, a beach which is covered in shells, unlike the usual sandy or rocky beaches. This makes the shell a very integral aspect of the design.

Design

The restaurant’s main focus is on serving lunch as lunch is the main meal of the day for Romanians. There are two focal points, the buffet table and the bar area. The bar area is a great place to watch football games in season, as well as just a place to socialize and relax on any day. The bar area is two feet below the rest of the space to emphasize the height of the ceiling. Private booth seating is also a major feature of the space, allowing for more exclusive seating which offers privacy and comfort. The booth is in the shape of a shell, with an interior material of white shell mother of pearl, lending an elegance to the shell shaped booths. The color palette of the space is a mix of light browns and whites, with red accents inspired by the red and white traditional Romanian clothing. This restaurant is the perfect choice for a romantic lunch or just an outing with family, friends, or coworkers.
