About The Project - Design Concept

Blizzard Co-working is a worksharing space that provides facilities for individuals and small businesses who need a safe and flexible environment to work outside of the home-office. A key feature is the variety of individual (refuge) and group (collaborative) spaces which supports different work flows & types.

Individual & group spaces are the two basic categories for any office space. Drawing from these two contrasting functions and connecting this to the contrast of a secluded wood cabin in a vast forest landscape during a blizzard serves as the inspiration for the design of Blizzard Co-working. 

The open co-working & lounge spaces available draw from the vast open landscapes of a clearing in a snowy forest. This open space is like a blizzard of activity with loud, active, interactive work within and between groups. In contrast to this are the enclosed, private spaces offered which draw from the simplistic wooden shelter of a cabin to provide a quiet space for people to do focus work.Like a cabin that shelters its inhabitants in a blizzard, these quiet spaces are like refuges within the overall active nature of this co-working space.

By providing these two essential space types for the individual and the group & defining them separately through layout, architectural elements, and materiality, this co-working space is a balanced work-place that can serve the ever changing needs of working professionals.
