Concept

Inspired by the clash of the modern world with the old world, the renovated barn design of the SKK Interiors office building is meant to create an atmosphere where both modern and rustic lifestyles mesh together in an attractive combination of natural and modern materials. The original barn still stands as a reminder and affirmation of the past, with the addition of extensions to either side of the building.

Design

The bare stone of the exterior building is used as a design element within the interior, and all the walls are unfinished, showing off the natural stone used in the structure. Different types of stone are used to create a more dynamic design for both the interior and the exterior of the building. Tall narrow windows line the exterior, giving light to the interior through the shape of an industrial modern elongated rectangle.

The furniture is a mixture of sleek, modern shapes with the combination of earthy-toned fabrics to further emphasize the clash of the ages. Tall ceilings with modern pendant lighting fall from the ceiling like pieces of glass, adding a sharp element to the earthy space. With the use of these elements, clients will be encouraged to relax and enjoy their experience while consulting with SKK Interiors in an open environment.

All the office desks are placed in an open space plan to allow for open communication of ideas and social conversation. The CEO’s office is solely separated by a glass paneled curtain wall in order to allow for private meetings with clients and employees. With the open plan and relaxed environment, SKK Interiors will promote an open and welcoming environment to both clients and employees.
